MSIAC is looking for a new Chairman of the Steering Committee!
Dear Community,
Dr Brian Fuchs (USA), has been MSIAC’s Chairman since the fall of 2016 but he is now retiring. Therefore, MSIAC is looking for a new Chairman.
What do you need to know?
The SC Chair will be elected by the membership of the SC to serve a term of one year and may succeed himself/herself. The SC Chair will not have a vote, but the Nation providing the SC Chair is entitled to a Member of the SC that will have a vote.
The MSIAC Chair must be a government employee, military, or officially designated as government representatives (not consultants). Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
The SC agreed interactions between the SC and MSIAC staff are valuable, and these should be accomplished through informal meetings between the Chair and SC Members with MSIAC staff when SC Meetings are conducted or Members of the SC visit MSIAC.
Roles and responsibilities of the SC Chair are:
- Prepare all SC Meeting invitations and agendas for distribution to SC members.
- Invite observers to attend SC meetings. These invitations can include representatives of prospective Nations interested in joining MSIAC.
- On behalf of the SC, select and interview candidates for MSIAC PM. Based on the interviews and other methods of screening, select the PM.
- Evaluate the PM annually. The evaluation will be conducted at the SC meeting closest to the annual anniversary date of the PM's contract.
- Interface with the ASG(DI) to promote the work of MSIAC within NATO Headquarters.
- Meet informally with members of the MSIAC staff when visiting NATO Headquarters.
Candidates for MSIAC SC Chair should meet the following criteria:
- Leadership abilities;
- In possession of a technical degree;
- Background in Munitions Safety, and at least 10 years’ experience;
- Have international experience in safety Standards (i.e. at least attending some of the internationally well-reputed meetings);
- Experience with MSIAC;
- Appropriate seniority to interact with national and NATO authorities;
- Availability for more than two years;
- Explicit support from candidate Chair’s nation and/or management, as this position is not paid for by MSIAC. The national government has to pay for travel expenses.
Are you interested in assuming the role of Chairman of the MSIAC Steering Committee? Then please forward your CV to d.vanoverstraeten@msiac.nato.int before 1 September 2024!
